The Little League World Series is a yearly event, taking place every August in Williamsport, featuring twenty teams of children between the ages of ten and twelve.
Ten teams are from the United States, and the other ten are from various countries worldwide. Past champions include teams from Hawaii, Michigan, Louisiana, and Japan, with Hawaii being the current title holder.
The US teams compete against each other in a bracket, following a double-elimination format, except for the final match.
The international teams are placed in a separate bracket and follow the same format. The victors of each bracket then compete in a single World Series Final match to determine the overall winner.
The Little League World Series takes place in two locations: Howard J. Lamade Stadium and Little League Volunteer Stadium. The inaugural tournament, initially called the National Little League Tournament, was held in 1947.
